Building Relationships: Tribal Treaty Rights & Local and State Government

In this October 2021 session, participants reconnected with voices from the Summit to further explore Tribal treaty rights and the legal relationship between Tribes and state and local governments. Warren King George, a historian for the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Preservation Department, shared his perspective on working with Tribal and Community members, government agencies, and other institutions to ensure Tribal treaty rights and Tribal cultural resources are protected and preserved. Joe Hovenkotter, Tribal Liaison for King County’s Department of Natural Resources and Parks, offered his perspective on working with Tribal and Community members, government agencies, and other institutions to ensure Tribal treaty rights and Tribal cultural resources are protected and preserved.
